- 200X Magnification USB Microscope
- 1.3 Mega Pixel resolution lens
- Snapshot and cideo recording function
- Software supplied
- Handy pen shaped design with optional cradle supplied
Lots of fun, and unique, 2008-12-24 I just got one of these as a gift. It's a lot of fun. I had to get the Mac software from the Veho website - definitely would NOT try to put the mini-CD supplied into my slot-loading CD drive - but once it was installed (just a couple of files to copy) the microscope "just worked" on OS X 10.5. Basically you can capture short Quicktime videos or JPEGs from the camera... it needs a fair bit of light though. Surprisingly small and feels a little delicate but it seems solid. You adjust the focus with the silver thumbwheel on the top, which works well.
One point to note is that it saves files to the root directory of your hard disk, which I've emailed them about, that should really be configurable or default to your home directory.
Not sure how often I will find a practical purpose for this but I produce video and photo content for the web so it's a handy little device, and great fun to play around with. I'm off to find something to take pictures of :-)

Come on chaps. Shape up or ship out. And, while you're shaping up, it helps to have some decent sounds pumping through one's ear canal. Now, much in the same way that your leg-warmer-wearing forebears danced their little hearts out to Jane Fonda on VHS, now you can do the same to the Kooks on MP3. And dashed healthy it all is, too. This deliciously compact little number from Veho is quite possibly the ultimate MP3 player to take with you when doing what our American cousins call 'sports'. Whatever that means. With super-dooper sound, a solid 2Gb of storage for one's 'choons', slimline sports headphones, and a trendy black neck-band to hang it all off, it's the complete musical kit for the sportily inclined. Or the lazily reclined. And because you don't want cumbersome buttons when you're out and about, it's a synch to operate, too, with handy touch-button controls taking charge of every conceivable function. And, in a final coup de grace, when one has come in from one's sporting labours, the device even works as a removable USB pen drive when plugged into one's PC. There. Conclusive proof that a healthy lifestyle is good for you.
Hair-trigger, 2008-07-15 I'd decided to expand my portable music from my old Sony 256mb (and get away from Sonic Stage). This seemed to fit the bill.
It's certainly small and light - it makes a Creative Stone look bulky.
Be aware:
1) That there is no standard USB lead: there's a basic connection in the lead (I spent 30 minutes thinking I'd dropped something).
2) The on/off switch is the headphones: on is in, etc.
3) AND THIS IS THE BIG ONE: the buttons are ultra sensitive. Just having this thing moving in my pocket caused the 'next track' button to register being hit. If you handle it to change volume or move to the next track, it will register. This is more than a little annoying.
4) Sound quality is ok.
5) I'll just keep this for backup music storage.
7) I can't see any sports person using this for jogging.
6) Get a Stone

- Scan your old Negatives and slides to PC
- USB connection - no expernal PSU needed
- Fast one touch scanning
- 5 mega pixel high resoltion scanning
- Colourbright picture enhancement technology
Pleasantly Surprised, 2008-12-26 I installed this scanner with ease on a Windows XP laptop and within an hour had two 35mm films scanned in. After a while I got into a routine, getting familiar with the loading, button pressing, transferring etc and would expect to get a 36 frame film scanned in about 15 minutes in future.
I had been apprehensive about how the scans would come out having seen the mixed reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. I would say I am fairly demanding on sharpness and colour accuracy; I am a mid-range SLR camera user rather than a snapshot photography, and I found the scans certainly good enough for displaying on the laptop screen at full size. The results at this size are on a par with viewing shots direct from my Canon SLR; zooming in reveals the scans are less sharp but this is irrelevant unless you want to crop photos down before viewing.
I would have given this scanner 5 stars if if were not for one issue; every scan has a sliver right along one edge that looks like it is scanning the edge of the film holder. This is easily removed by cropping (I use Irfan view as it is quick to use) but slightly annoying - I have yet to work out if it is a misalignment that I can correct in positioning the holders in the slot of the unit.
On balance I would say this scanner is worth having because it does the job with reasonable speed and quite acceptable quality.

Worth the effort!, 2008-12-31 Very good, after struggling with the software. I had to maually download the scanner. Veho help site useless, no mention of this model that I could find. A good product let down by it's software and customer service.
My results excellent after processing with Windows Picture Gallery. I have Vista.Dennis.

Great Value, 2008-11-12 Great little gadget here, no problems setting up and using. Very cost effective way to back up all the stuff on your mobile. The software for the sim back up is a little primitive but what do you expect for so little money. If you go on to Veho's website you can download the full manual which makes it easier to understand
