Cracking backup drive, 2010-06-25
Echoing other postive reviews, this really is a cracking little drive.

The case has a very solid feel to it, with an almost a 'rubbery' texture. It does feel like a solid piece of kit. Just heavy enough to make it feel substantial, but not too heavy for your pocket.

I haven't tested the drop-test specification (who would?) - I imagine that you'll only know whether it's as good as they say when you really need it to be!

The on-board software isn't bad and is you can specify which folders you'd like to synchronise - although by default it's the 'My Documents' folder. It doesn't save anything to your PC, just seems to hold all the settings on the drive itself.

The drive appears as a standard drive with no issues under Vista (64-bit), and the drive light is a nice blue - subtle more than vibrant.

I bought the red version of this drive - don't think Post Box red, think more of the maroon colour that you see some older Ford Mondeo's running around in. It's pleasant enough, and does make it look a little different on your desk.

Speedwise, I'd say it's as good as any other portables out there. Not the fastest, not the slowest. I bought it as a safe backup medium for a massive amount of photos and my music, so speed wasn't a massive issue.

I did my research before buying this and, overwhelmingly, the reviews are practically all very positive - both amateur (like this one) and professional (like PC magazines) alike.

500Gb in a simple, portable pack that's just small than my whole hand and for the price, I think, is excellent value. Delivery was within 2 days of ordering, so can't fault that either!

Bottom line is that there are loads of portable USB drives out there, but if I need another one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these - in the same colour! :)

As far as in-camera speed goes (witnessed by shooting in continuous mode), this card performs as well as any other of my cards. None of my other cards are rated faster than this one (133x). I suspect that the card is not the limiting factor.

I've had no write-failures or data loss and the card formats to 7.43GB - whereas my Kingston 8GB card formats to 7.08GB.

Some reviews that I read gave cause for concern - but in my experience, this card performs soundly. I cannot fault it.

I bought this with my Canon EOS 550d to shoot video. I wasn't expecting much but the transfer speeds are super!!! I can reach 19mb/s read and 14.7mb/s write! It isn't show in the picture, but on the actual card it says 'up to 20mb/s speed' just like BT, except they are telling the truth!!! 5 stars!!! Can't argue with the price!!!

Amazing little device., 2010-07-17
Was having music/ artwork problems with my HTC Hero running Android 2.1. Was freezing, not displaying art sometimes, generally being a right pain in the. Briefly thought was phone, then thoughts went to Sandisk HC card I was using. Bought this card and all my problems were solved in a second. All artwork loads fast now and I can swiftly scan through 1000 songs and about 80 artists with no problems at all, it takes all I can throw at it. Even the phone is running quicker, at least I have convinced myself of that fact. Great card, worth every penny. recommend for your phone, regardless of make.

Also when dragging/ dropping songs to phone the transfer is almost twice as fast.
