My New Camera, 2010-07-28 Recieved my new Lumix TZ10 camera, and I love it, taking pictures now is fun as I used to use my iPhone which was just not good enough. easy to use auto function for people like me that just want to push a button, but also plenty of other functions if you can be bothered. I would tell anyone looking to buy a camera this is the one.

fantastic optics, can't find fault, 2010-07-27 Obviously the point of this camera is the x12 optics on a compact body.
It's bigger than most compacts (duh!) but really small enough to carry easily without a bulky bag.
Other than the fantastic lens, best features are: physical switches for on/off and view/capture, without big delay, and the auto-zoom button - software switch to go straight to x12, rather than waiting to get there slowly. Press again for the (no more convincing than expected!) "software" magnification - or don't bother, in fact!
Overall one of my favourite ever cameras, highly recommended.

WOW!, 2010-07-27 Purchased this camera to replace my aging Canon Ixus 400, which really produced great shots!
I took an age to decide on which upgrade, considering several makes including Canon again.
Finally decided on this model over the later TZ8 & TZ10, which I feel have un-needed add-on gimmicks, not really required on a camera..
To say i'm impressed is an understatement. Really well pleased with the quality & clarity of the photos this camera takes. Speed of operation is also great, which was one of the factors of my decision to purchase this model..
All in all, great camera, def worth the price I paid (well reduced!)

To get better than this, you have to get DSLR, 2010-07-28 I wanted better than average digital camera but not DSLR. Also the HD-movie recording was one of my requirements. Read many reviews, tests and comparisons of different "bridge" cameras. Ratings for DMC-FZ38 were exceptional. So, I bought the DMC-FZ38.
I'm very pleased so far (had it for a week and shot about 1000 pictures already). Automatic settings (intelligent-Auto or iA) are very good but so are the manual settings. Took the time to read fully the advanced options manual to understand all settings and possibilities. There is much to learn in photography for me :) I must also praise the Power O.I.S. that keeps the picture sharp even with 18x zoom.
I use the video recording (720p) instead of my old digital (HD) video camera. So far I have no complaints. The audio is very good and the HD picture is enough for me (1080p is too much and also it needs too much space for recording).
Only complaint is the high ISO noise on ISO800-1600, but this is due the small sensor (compared to DSLR). You can avoid this by setting the ISO limit in settings (only not for iA mode).
For the price this is the best-of-best.

Compact Digital Camera FS11 - 28mm Wide-angle 5x Optical Zoom LUMIX DC Lens and iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode with Advanced Scene DetectionIn iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, 4 detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. The iA Mode includes MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to detect hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame and Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions. Sunset Mode has been added to the Intelligent Scene Selector. The DMC-FS11 features a 28mm wide-angle 5x optical zoom LUMIX DC VARIO lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-140mm). The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective. The 5x optical zoom lens captures beautiful shots of people or landscapes with 14.1-megapixel resolution. The Extra Optical Zoom function uses the center part of the CCD to extend this 5x zoom ratio to powerful 10.5x zoom at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less. To realize the Sonic Speed AF, ...
Great Camera, 2010-07-25 I have been using this camera for a month now and find it excellent. It was a replacement for a previous Lumix camera that we had for 5 years, so returned to Panasonic for another. It's simple to use and produces fine quality photos.

Great Small and Light Camcorder, 2010-07-28 I recently purchased the Panasonic SD60 Camcorder and have been pleased with the results. The digital zoom goes up to 1500x which even with a tripod is unusable and find a limit of 150x more than enough. The camcorder is easy to use out of the box and there are five quality settings for video footage and at the highest setting found that you can easily make out the stitches in a top when zooming in. The colours appear to be natural in day light. The camcorder is small, light and is really easy to use. The software that comes with the camcorder is quite limited and I cannot recommend CyberLink Power Director 8 enough. After attaching the camcorder to my PC via a USB lead I transfer the *.MTS files to a convenient folder and these do not need converting to use CyberLink Power Director. The battery is charged when attached to the camcorder and I have a number of 16Gb cards which hold a little over 2hours of video at the highest setting. In conclusion a great little camcorder which seems to be well made and has plenty of features. Combine it with CyberLink Power Director and to me it is the perfect combination.

Just what I wanted, 2010-07-26 This little camera is a joy. Has everything I wanted for a really good price. A proper zoom which focuses properly. An LED that you can see even in bright sunshine. Fully automatic or you can adjust the settings yourself. Takes high quality videos. Very easy to use, but one of these days I might get around to looking at the instructions.
