Top Notch Camera!!!, 2008-12-18
Hi everyone,
I bought this camera after reading numerous reviews and looking on the web for other people's opinions, and i wasn't disappointed.
Some people complain about the picture quality - it is fine for me - i use it on the full 10 Mp setting with fine compression.....and the photos look fabulous. Even when fully zoomed in it looks great.
Some people complain that the buttons are too small, i got used to it straight away even with my medium to big sized hands. Some people mention the fact that your finger gets in the way of the lens, as it is close to the top right, but i managed to avoid that after 2 or 3 photos. The only problem is if you give it to someone else to take a photo. Just tell them to hold it with one hand, and if it drops - who cares!!!

It does feel very solid and great underwater. No leaks whatsoever. Just make sure everything is snapped closed before doing it and you'll be fine.

It is a camera that will last a long time, save youself from buying 2 or 3 over 5 years, this one will do the lot for a long time. It is full of features, and even with the lack of manual controls does each shot perfectly, whether underwater, in the mountains or just out in the pub or something. All the photos were perfect.

One last must have for me, was the fact that when you look through the photos you have taken on the screen, they need to move quick. This does it with ease with no delay like many others out there.

If you are looking for a tough camera that will last and take great shots then treat yourself to this little beauty.

xD M+ Card Replaces H Type Cards, 2008-10-11
My Olympus SP-550uz needs xD type H cards (rather than the slower type M cards) to enable its SHQ 30fps video mode for longer than 15 seconds. But, type H cards are no longer available.

This new Olympus type M+ xD card (from Flash Memory) seems to enable the SHQ 30fps mode in my camera OK.

Max. recording time for a 2GB M+ xD card in SHQ mode is about 19 minutes.

Perfect for Recording Lectures, 2008-12-17
I am not a techno-whizz, so this is written for those who have no knowledge (and interest?) in fine points of electonics. I bought this machine to record lectures; I have used it both in large rooms and a formal lecture theatre, and it has been great. The sound quality is superb and I can easily hear every word spoken during the lecture - even from the back of the lecture theatre. I have not bought or used an additional microphone. The case is a bit delicate, but with reasonable adult use, it will be fine - might become a bit tatty in teenagers' hands.
I would definitely recommend this product.

Really good camera! I have been so pleased with it! I bought before going travelling, it lasted 3 months, being used daily, in water, its been dropped, and still living today! so pleased with it stil! Sometimes the button sticks when taking a picture, but I think that is general wear & tear as it didn't do this when I first purchased it! And it looks amazing in Pink!!!!

Bought this for my student daughter so she could record interviews for her final year project. Does just what it says - easy to use, good pick-up range, just put it on the table between two speakers and off you go.... come home, install the software and download to the PC. Really simple!!!
