Average rating of 5/5 You do need shock proof !!, 2008-06-07
Excellant.
Tho I ve havent had it for very long, it is shock proof, and it works well, its simple to use, plug it in and its ready, very quick, it also looks good, depending on your taste.
I previously owned a non shock proof portable hard drive, my child dropped it from a small height and its now out of commission.... or grokened as he descibed it.
If its portable you need then get a shock proof one !

Average rating of 5/5 Great Product, 2008-11-06
I've had this product for 1.5 years and I have found it an incredible product. It transfers data quickly, I don't actually find it that noisy, if you're actually trying to listen to it then you might find it loud but I forget about it after a while. As for the flickering light, I know it's always flickering however you ignore it after a while.

It's a great product and hasn't been a problem at all, never broke or crashed.

Average rating of 5/5 Not very sexy, but..., 2008-10-11
Buying an external hard drive for your PC is a bit like buying a tripod for your camera - its only purpose is to do the job you need it to do. For that alone this Iomega gets 5 stars, mainly because I can't think of any reason to give it any less!

I bought this firstly to be able to keep all my photographs properly organised in one place rather than on discs, and backing those up is simplicity itself. Once the Iomega is plugged in it is instantly recognised, and picture files and folders can simply be dragged and dropped into it. It really is that simple to set up.

I also have a ridiculously large CD collection - to the point that storage is becoming an issue - and while many of them aren't played that often, its still nice to have the option... now I have a digital "attic" to keep copies in, and the originals can all go to car boot sales/charity shops! I use Sony's Sonicstage software for loading music onto my PC & Walkman, and getting it to work with this hard drive was as simple as setting the default drive to K in the software.

I'm sure technophiles may argue over the finer details and specs of the mountain of external hard drives on the market, but I am certainly not one of them. I just needed something simple to install and use, with a massive storage capacity, and that's just what I got.

(A note about storage capacity - some is lost to the hard drive's own operating system, giving an actual capacity of around 931 GB. Still plenty to play with, I'd say...)
