simple yet effective , 2008-11-07 Bought this for my 450D and it does exactly what its supposed to. Not taken any pics where its UV filtering propeties will come in useful yet, but its primary job at the moment is to protect the len.
Its got threads on its outer aspect to allow the attachment of further filters or hoods if you want.
At £8 its a bargain, its for sale in Tottenham Court Road at £30!!! What a rip off!

- Anti-pop noise protection filter for microphones.
- Plastic spring clamp
- 100mm (4")
Ferdilicious!, 2008-09-11 Well I was a little hesitant at first, but once the semitonic filtration chamber reached three quarters capacity it worked a treat. No snaps, crackles pops or parity occlusions. As the previous reviewer mentioned the oil draining facility only adds to the sonic transparency. Clever? I think so..

- Multi-coated optical glass for enhanced optical resolution.
- FILTER UV: Protects your camera's lens from scratches, dust, dirt, moisture, and fingerprints, while reducing unwanted ulra-violet light.
- FILTER FD: The F-DL fluorescent light correction filter gives true-to-life color rendition by removing the harsh yellow-green cast ordinarily resulting from fluorescent bulbs. When shooting under natural light, a fluorescent filter dramatically increases color satruation of subjects.
- FILTER PL: Polarizers let you acheive vibrant color saturation, reduce or eliminate glare and reflections from non-metallic objects and glass surfaces, and minimize haze. The filter can be rotated to determine the amount of reflection to be removed.
- Hey Dig Quality. Includes protective carrying case. Made in Japan. 5 Year Warranty by HeyDig.
Nice filter set for the D40!, 2008-11-11 This is a great little set of 3 filters; UV, polariser and flourescent filters in a nice little case to keep them together. These fit perfectly onto the Nikon D40 with a Nikon 18-55 kit lens and also the Nikkor 55-200 VR lens too & the case is handy for putting them in the big bag so they don't get ruined. They give good results if used in the appropriate manner - I have no complaints & have taken over 2000 photos using the filters!

Super colour saturation and reduced reflection, 2008-11-29 Polarising filters are magical things. They can reduce reflections from non metallic surfaces with merely a twist of the ring!
Another use of polarising filters is to enhance colour saturation. Have you ever seen a photograph with the deepest blue sky you've ever seen and wondered how the photographer did it? Have you ever looked at your own pale blue, wishy washy skies and thought how on earth do I do this!?!? Look no further.
By turning the ring on a circular polariser you can adjust the amount of the effect it will create. They work best when the lens is pointed at 90 degrees to the sun, in other words the sun is on your left or right, not in front or behind. They are useful wherever you want deeper colour saturation too such as on foliage. A polariser can cut out the reflection of the white sky on glossy leaves and foliage for landscape shots.
Anyway, this Hoya polariser is well made and does all of the above. It's not the slimmest so you may need to look elsewhere for a special slim version if you're using on a super wide angle lens to avoid cropping image corners.
For everyone else this is a versatile and handy addition to your kit at a very good price.

Does what it says on the tin, 2008-10-31 There is not really much to say about this filter - it does exactly what it says on the tin! Pictures taken in sunlight are more precise and less hazy because UV light is filtered out.
This filter is cheap and specific enough to be left on permanently as a protector for your valuable front lens. It won't have any appreciable effect on photographs taken indoors etc.
It is worth mentioning that the filter is through-threaded, so you can screw another filter or other lens accessory onto the front of it once it is mounted.
