Minolta
Great camera by Minolta (again), 2006-09-20 I have just upgraded my film camera collection from an ancient Pentax to My Minolta X-700 (fully manual) and this Dynax 404si. What an awesome difference! A great, easy to use camera (I haven't read the manual), and plenty of options which you can choose, but they are subtle enough not to overwhelm you. Having been raised on fully manual cameras, this is a dream to just shoot without thinking so hard about all the options, but if you want to do something different then you can. Excellent lightweight body, long battery life, auto load/rewind, auto flash, very nice piece of kit. Will probably keep in my bag for a long long time...

Canon
The world's finest SLR, 2004-02-05 PROS:As usual, canon introduces the newest technology at the best price. The eos 30 has "eye control focus," which is very useful. It makes composing the picture much easier and faster, because the camera actually senses where you are looking at in the photo. The photo quality is the best in it's class. Better than ANY digital camera, and only bettered when you spend above a grand. This is an excellent camera. If this your first time buying an SLR, go for this camera. It will help you grow into an advanced amateur. Functions and buttons are easy to understand. CONS: -The 28-90 standard canon is to narrow for your first lense... go for a 24-75 or a SIGMA 24-135 8-) - The extra money is worth it! -if you have the eye control focus on, make sure you look at you subject!
