An Amazing Begginers Camcorder, 2010-03-16 Overall, I think this is an amazing little camera, its great for a first camcorder, and is generally easy to use with some great quality SD clips, sure its not HD, but if you want a HD camera, go and get one instead of complaining about it :)

Amazingly good value, 2010-07-20 Having tried out a number of similarly priced camcorders I decided, without regret in hindsight, to purchase one of these amazing little camcorders from Amazon.
I'm delighted with its performance, both as a 1920 x 1080 Full High Definition Camcorder and by its ability to capture extremely good quality (12Mp) photographs.
The quality of the Full HD video is amazing for a camera at this price. The colours are good with a slight tendancy to enhance reds, but not too obvious. The image stabilising function isn't operational in either the Full HD mode nor in the WVGA 848 x 480 60 fps mode but, in my personal opinion, doesn't make a lot of difference as the image stabilising system is digital and not particularly good.
Taking digital photo images is not a rapid process ( a lot slower than simply pressing the video button) but having the facility built into an easily pocketable HD camcorder is a bonus. The camera comes with a snug fitting slip in case which adds little to the overall size but affords protection when the camera is slipped into your pocket. Since buying my Veho camcorder I've never left the house without it either in a pocket or in the glove box of my car and the number of times this has enabled me to capture great HD videos of the grandchildren or something special seen while travelling around is amazing.
I also own a good quality and expensive camcorder but it's something you have to be determined to hawk around with you and if you are at all like me I'm sure there have been numerous occasions when you said to yourself "I wish I'd the camcorder" - this neat, lightweight, pocketable unit ensures that seldom, if ever, happens.
You need to buy at least an 4Gb or 8Gb SDHC card as none is supplied, but these are reasonably priced here on Amazon (you can use up to a 32Gb card but this probably would slow things down). I keep an 8Gb card in the camera and carry a spare along with a fully charged NP60 Li-ion battery and find that I get around 1 to 1.5 hours life from each battery - and a lot longer with intermittent use.
What are the downsides? It doesn't have all the bells, gongs and whistles that a full size camcorder would have, but then it doesn't cost anything near the same price. Because it's so pocketable you will carry it everywhere and will discover that your family and friends become aware you do just that and you will become the "video man" able to take video's at a split seconds notice. Get used to the idea - believe me it happens.
The upsides? It's well priced, knocks spots off most of the competition, it works and works well and the quality of the Full HD video is amazing for such a small camcorder.

Amazing Muvi Atom!!, 2010-05-21 I bought this camcorder after previously purchasing the standard "Muvi" (see previous review). After hearing that this model has a higher frame rate, is smaller and has a snapshot function I thought I'd upgrade....!
I cant see how the first reviewer gave this one star! This camcorder is fantastic! For such a tiny size it gives amazing video quality (30 frames per second) and the stills it takes are great as well. Im a keen mountain biker so I take this out whenever I can, this model of Muvi comes with all the straps neccesary to mount it on your handlebars so its just a case of putting it in the mount and off you go!
The Atoms compact size hasn't compromised on its durability. Its feels really solid to touch and having already dropped it a couple of times its still in one piece!
At the same time I bought this I also purchased a Veho Pebble Veho VCC-A007-PBP Pebble 5000mAH Portable Battery Pack Charger for iPod, iPhone, Mobile Phones and PSP. Great for when you've run out of battery whilst on the go.
All in all great fun!

Panasonic SDR-H85, 2010-04-03 I Bought this camera a few weeks ago primarily to film my sons Athletics events, having tried before to video using my digital compact camera and having found it somewhat restrictive.
I looked at many reviews including the latest Panasonic High definition cameras and ended taking a bit of a gamble with this one as there were no reviews at the time but the reviews of it's features were what had attracted me to it's HD brothers. I went for the standard definition as my main usage is to upload to 'you tube' and link to websites for which standard definition seems to be fine.
Having now been at two track meetings one without a tripod and one recently using my 25yr old Slik 88 tripod I would agree with the other review I have just read that a tripod is best at high magnification though the image stabilisation works really well. I am looking for a video tripod now to make the panning a little less rough.
The 80 gig hard drive is plenty for holidays etc and you have the additional option of an SD memory card if required so there are really no limits on storage. I am very pleased with the end results the zoom has enabled me to get close in to any part of the track from wherever I have positioned myself and the software that came with it makes it really easy to upload to you tube. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to create a link here to show but I am certainly impressed.
The camera feels solid, probably helped with the hard drive on the side, the SD card fits in securely unlike one of the other Panasonic cameras where this was mentioned as a problem, I have average sized hands and found operating both the zoom and the lcd panel menus comfortable and intuitive
I still have lots to play with on this but have to say I would certainly recommend this camera for my sort of use and holidays, I also did a little bit of indoor filming and was pleased with that.

Very small and sort of wonderful!, 2010-07-28 Bought this camcorder when my SONY 8MM camera gave up the ghost.Ordered midnight Mon/Tues and it arrived 8.30am Wednesday with special delivery. I never wear an anorak when buying/using cameras so I have no intention of being a david Lean or speiberg. The camera is pleasantly and suprisingly small but well built. The good news for me personally is that the lens cover is manual. I owned a fuji camera with electric cover etc which ran the battery down pretty quickly.
The picture quality is bright and clear on my 46 inch sony bravia tv. Amazing sharpness and clarity that pushes my sony 8mm camera's quality down into fourth division.I read the manual but the camera is very intuitive to use and can be used straight from the box. Remember to buy an hdmi standard-to-mini hdmi lead as it isn't included. I've not tried an SD card as yet because the camera has flash drive already installed.I managed to load the short films made straight to windows 7 using the usb lead supplied and without installing any software, its as simple as that! It's important to point out that Amazon's price for this camera is £100 cheaper than other websites.I don't own a blueray writer and don't profess to know much about different formats but as said previously the quality of the downloads onto my laptop are vibrant and beautifully sharp and clear. As I've only owned this camera for one day obviously I may find a myriad of other wonderful features but until then................I'm totally impressed.
