Average rating of 4/5 First proper binoculars, 2010-05-20
I got these so me and my kids could look at the stars and the moon and see all the wonderful things in the galaxy.
They are big, so getting them on a tripod will help, but I managed to use them to watch some crows dive bombing an osprey.
The kids haven't gpt much of a look in yet, but my wife and I spent a good ten minutes just looking at the moon.
I did a bit of research on binoculars for star gazing, and I haven't been disappointed.

Average rating of 4/5 simply great, 2010-08-02

for the price i paid it simply great, crisp clear image and very sharp , but one has to keep in mind that its a tripod stand type binoculars,
very good deal for my aspects.

Average rating of 4/5 Good Value Binoculars - make sure you have a tripod!, 2010-08-21
These binoculars are very good value, and I was undecided whether to give the full 5 stars. The weight and the need for a tripod makes it not a piece of equipment that you can take on a leisurely walk. If you are thinking about buying a pair, you should make sure you have a tripod, especially if you are wanting to view something for anything longer than a few seconds. There is an easy fitting included for the tripod. Also, because they are quite big - just under 11 inches from eyepiece to objective lens cover, they are also quite heavy - hence the use of the tripod. They come with a carrying bag, which is soft, not a hard case. Overall, a good product and I would recommend itCelestron SkyMaster Binoculars 15x70.

Average rating of 5/5 SkyMaster - Power to the People, 2010-09-06
I have had several Binoculars since my teens, mostly Dad's, as the years past I became a father and wanted to get my Son off the PC and into Astronomy, I purchased a entry level telescope, but needed a real good easy eye in the night, after window shopping I decided on Celestron SkyMaster Binoculars 15x70... Power to the People... its a fast group of lenses, good weight for its size and when you snap it on to your camera/video tripod, just pull up your chair and look into the dark night sky.

Your Blue stars are cool and your warm giants are Hot!

I live in the City of Athens under the Temple of Parthenon, so you can understand that light pollution is at it s worst. To give you an example, if you look at MIZA 2.20 mag. in the Big Dipper you will just see ALCOR 3.95 mag. next to it, Celestron SkyMaster Binoculars 15x70 brings out the colour detail in a crisp contrast, you can see them both with all the little clutter of small stars in the background.

Buy it! Enjoy it!

Average rating of 5/5 Perfect for Astronomy, 2010-06-23
I assume that these have been designed for astronomy - they can only reach focus for distant objects. This allows the optical design to be optimized for the job in hand - and they have done a very good job. The focus control is smooth and provides fine control. The sharpness at the center of the field of view is excellent, and (at least on my pair) the collimation of the optics appear to be spot on. Sharpness reduces a bit towards the edges, but it still gives pleasing star images right to the edge. The apparent field of view is also very impressive (4.4 x 15 = 66 degrees) - this is important because it makes finding objects much easier. Point it at the moon, and a surprising amount of detail is available for just 15x magnification. There is a tiny amount of false color on the limb of the moon, but nothing too distracting. The 15x magnification is just large enough to differentiate most Messier objects from stars. Perfect for getting to know the night sky.
To my surprise, it is just as easy to hold these binoculars steady as a pair of 7x35. It seems that the extra length of the binoculars help - hold them at the objective end. I often use them lying on my back - this gives reasonably steady views, but my arms need a rest after a few minutes. Same problem with the very light 7x35 binoculars I own. I think it is mostly due to the weight of my arms rather than the binoculars!
Are they optically perfect? No. Any good for planets? No. If you are after perfection, you will need to spend 10x the amount and buy a top end astronomical telescope. Any real down sides? I find the rubber eye guards uncomfortable against my nose - however I am willing to put up with this as they get rid of stray light.
The supplied tripod adapter works well with my 7x35 binoculars, but it is useless for the 15x70 - it twists and oscillates from side to side. Get a metal one.
