With big, juicy, colour pictures and simple, no-nonsense instructions, this is easily the best software guide book I've had the pleasure of using. So many other guides weigh you down with heavy explanations and confusing descriptions. This particular beauty was written with the creative reader in mind. I found dipping in and out to get the information I needed a complete doddle. It gives you the info you need without being patronising and over-explaining to the point of tedium. It assumes you're an intellignet individual who can make sense of simple explanations. I'm hanging out for these folks to produce guides for Illustrator and Dreamweaver... trying to make sense of any of the other stuff out there after reading this book is a bit of a nightmare. Absolutely and completely recommended for anyone using, or wanting to use, Flash. Cheap too!
 Not THAT brillliant, 2010-02-24
I bought this book based upon the reviews it was given here however I was somewhat disappointed. Like somany books of thi stype it does not flow. I bleive the only way that Flash can be taught in this form is by teaching flash with a spcific project at the same time.
This book attempts to teach flash but there are no meaty examples - a beginner would read from start to finish but would have problems putting it all together.
I's therfore recommend this as a reference book for people who are fairly new to flash rather than for beginners who wish to learn from scratch.

I borrowed this book from the library prior to purchase. It is in my opinion, the best and easiest book on Flash 8 for someone like me with limited knowledge. Unfortunately its has not been updated to the latest release of Flash.
